8:00pm Thursday 14th February 2013 in Sport By Matt Plummer
BRIGHTLINGSEA Regent booked their place in the First Division Knockout Cup semi-finals on Saturday.
Goals from Liam Whittaker and Ricky Griggs gave them a 2-0 win at Swaffham.
James Webster’s side now face another away trip in the last four, after being draw against Newmarket Town.
Brightlingsea will visit the Jockeys on March 23, with the winners going on to play either Great Yarmouth Town or Ipswich Wanderers in the final on May 3.
Meanwhile, there is more good news at North Road.
Brightlingsea have won the Thurlow Nunn League’s bi-monthly team award for December and January.
It comes on the back of them winning the same award for October and November.
The club will again receive a cheque for £150, from league sponsor Thurlow Nunn, and a £100 cheque for their chosen charity, which last time was the children’s ward at Colchester General Hospital.
Regent, who entertain Debenham LC on Saturday, are fourth in Thurlow Nunn League division one and have not been beaten in the league since September 29.
They won nine division one matches in a row, prior to being held to a 1-1 draw by Fakenham, on the first weekend in February.
