Mark setting sights on promotion goal
NEW skipper Mark Jones believes Frinton Cricket Club are destined for the East Anglian Premier League.
The opening batsman was officially appointed at the club’s recent annual meeting, replacing the long-serving Russ Everson.
And he predicts bright times on the horizon for the promotion-chasing Ashlyns Road side.
Jones is confident that given his side’s potential, they can one day take their place in the EAPL alongside coastal neighbours Clacton.
“That’s the club’s aim, certainly within the next two or three years,” said the 31-year-old, who played for Clacton for six years – skippering them for three – and also spent a summer at Brightlingsea.
“Whether it happens this season or not remains to be seen, but we’ll certainly be giving it our best shot."
