Stuck and Crick are surprise overall winners
5:14pm Monday 21st January 2013 in Sport By Matt Plummer
JOHN Stuck and John Crick were crowned as surprise overall winners when Clacton Golf Club’s seniors played the eighth and final round of their Winter Top Dogs competition.
The victors on the day were past captain Ray Fage and Mike Gurry, with 43 points.
They won on countback from second-placed Gilbert Bradfield and Dave Gilbert.
In third were Stuck - struggling with a shot handicap reduction - and Crick, with 42.
The seniors competition committee then worked out the final positions, by removing the two lowest scores from the eight matches.
This led to the surprise news that Stuck and Crick were this year’s winners, with 116 points.
They were closely followed by last year’s winners Bradfield and Gilbert, with 111.
