Brightlingsea are boosted by coveted Accreditation

BRIGHTLINGSEA Rugby Club are celebrating after earning prestigious RFU Accreditation.

They are one of only 500 clubs to have received the coveted award and will be presented with it by RFU officials on Saturday.

To mark the occasion, the Essex League division two side are holding a Vice-President’s Day, kicking off with a meal at the Royal British Legion.

The club’s first team will then do battle with May and Baker at Strangers Corner, before the official RFU presentation back at the Legion.

All players and their families are welcome and a buffet will be provided.

“It’s the youth section of the club that has worked for the award, which is quite an achievement as we are only in our fourth season and a relatively small town,” said youth chairman Ian Carpenter.

“Accreditation will bring many advantages for our club, including the Sport England Clubmark for our mini and youth section.

“It will give our club credibility with local authorities and educational establishments and confer the status of the RFU brand to attract potential sponsors.

“As this is due in no small part to the efforts of the youth section, we’d love to see as many of the players and parents at this presentation as possible.”
