Regent are on the crest of a wave

JAMES Webster admitted his Brightlingsea Regent side are oozing confidence, after extending their winning run thanks to a 2-0 victory against Whitton United.

Liam Whittaker’s cool penalty and an exquisite second from Phil Kelly settled Saturday’s Thurlow Nunn League division one contest at North Road.

It was Regent’s eighth straight win and their tenth in 11 games.

And afterwards Webster identified qualities in his team that remind him of when they swept to the Kent Blaxill Essex and Suffolk Border League title in 2011.

“It was a superb result and the boys are so confident at the moment,” said the Brightlingsea boss, whose side are fourth in the table but only four points behind leaders Newmarket.

“They’re making my job easy, because I haven’t got to lift them for games.

“They’re doing that themselves and it’s the same feeling in the dressing room, compared with when we won the Border League.

“We’re turning up believing we’re going to win.”
