Victorious Holden is back with a bang

MICHAEL Holden brushed injury worries to one side to start the year with a glorious victory.

The Clacton athlete was successful in the senior men’s heptathlon at the England Senior and Under-20 Combined Events Championships, in Sheffield.

He also accumulated a personal best points tally and, in the process, has booked his place in the Great Britain squad for a combined events international in Valencia.

Former Tendring Sports Personality Award winner Holden had an injury-plagued 2012.

But he was delighted to make a flying start to the new year and said: “It was great and I really enjoyed it."
