Turner is realistic about survival chances

FC CLACTON manager Ray Turner admits it will be “extremely difficult” for his side to avoid relegation.

The Seasiders are rock bottom of the Thurlow Nunn League premier division with just one win and five points from their 13 games.

They suffered a demoralising 6-0 defeat at Godmanchester Rovers on Saturday.

Turner is determined to turn things round but, equally, is brutally realistic about the size of the task ahead.

“I’ll keep going but it’s going to be extremely difficult to avoid relegation,” he said.

“I had a whole squad unavailable last weekend and even getting reserve players there was a task.

“It’s horrendous at the moment and shows how much work there is to do.

“I had a go at the players at half-time but it wasn’t really their fault.

“The problem was more the number of the players who weren’t there.

“We have some good training sessions but it defeats the object when people then can’t play on a Saturday.

“It’s a bit of a nightmare and the whole mentality needs to change.

“I need a settled group who want to play every week.”
