Walton: Save the Naze, then buy a rock
Innovative Save the Naze campaigners have hit on a new fundraising initiative to help raise £800,000.
It will help boost their latest coastal heritage awareness project to build a walkway for visitors to view Walton's crumbling cliffs and treasure trove of pre-Ice Age fossils.
Sponsor a Rock is set to be launched by the charity group, the Naze Protection Society, at Walton's carnival parade on Saturday.
Chairman David Gager said it was hoped to get the public involved in a practical way by sponsoring rocks which will ultimately build the walkway in front of the Naze cliffs.
£25 Sponsor a Rock donations towards the building of the Crag Walk can be sent to the Naze Protection Society, Haven House, Walton, CO14 8LF or handed in at the charity shop at 18 Walton High Street.
