HASTA La Flip-Flops author Louie O’Brien will be in Waterstones at Lakeside Shopping Centre all day on Saturday, March 10.
Louie “The Lip” lives in Grays, but was a well-known face on the club scene of Palma, Mallorca, from 1967 until 1992.
Hasta La Flip-Flops is the story of how he went to Mallorca in 1967 and ended up staying for the next 30 years, becoming part-owner of the club Alexandra and an MC in Palma.
The book, which is now a best seller on the island, includes the story of how Louie nearly got shot while impersonating an official dignitary to invite sailors from the US Navy to his club.
Author Anna Nicholas praised Hasta La Flip-Flops, saying: “Louie The Lip’s hugely entertaining and comic memoir is full of delicious, poignant and at times shocking ancedotes about Majorca during its tourism heyday. It is an addictive page-turner.”
