HUNDREDS of fundraisers joined an annual charity walk to raise thousands of pounds for a hospital.
More than 250 people took part in this year’s Walk for Wards.
The event is expected to raise more than £15,000.
The route took people the seven kilometres along Southend seafront to raise money for Southend Hospital.
Charity director, Lucy Thomas-Clayton, was delighted at the turnout.
She said: “Supporters of all ages turned out in force and there was a fantastic atmosphere.
“It was really lovely to hear so many wonderful stories about how Southend Hospital staff have helped our local community.
“We are hugely grateful to our wonderful team of volunteers and our event sponsors – Sea Life Adventure Wild - who have ensured that every penny raised will directly benefit our hospital.”

It’s expected that more than £15,000 will be raised for 30 different wards and departments.
The money will be used to enhance the care and environment at the hospital.
It was held on Sunday.
The date for Walk For Wards 2019 is Sunday, September 15.
