YOUNGSTERS at a primary school have been keeping active with a sports week.

Pupils at Northlands Primary School and Nursery, in Basildon, have had no shortage of exercise and excitement this week.

PE teachers have worked hard to put on a host of events, kickstarted with a nursery sports day on Monday, Key Stage one of Tuesday and key stage 2 yesterday.

And the week will continue with a record day today, and a teachers against pupils event on Friday.

Headteacher, Jane Young, said: “It was a lovely morning, and we have had a lovely sport filled week.

“This was our third event, and we have two more to follow as well, the sports teachers and coaches have worked really hard to put this week on and it has been a great success.

“Tomorrow we have a record breaking day, where they will be lots of little bits going on as well as welly throwing and football kicking challenges.

“Then on Friday we have a teachers against pupils day, which everyone is looking forward too and should be great fun.

“What has been great to see is the way the children have been supporting each other.

“All week the children have been encouraging each other, saying well done and being really sporting. The sports week has been fantastic. It is a great way for the kids to be active and to get them playing sport.”
