A road has been shutdown in both directions following a crash.
The incident in Sutton Road, Southend was reported to have happened at around 7am this morning.
Witness report from after the crash say that a car had crashed into a lamppost and the driver was seriously injured as a result.
Two ambulances and two fire engines were quickly on the scene with police to block off the road in both directions.
A person was seen being placed on a stretcher by paramedics, there has been no confirmation on the extent of the driver's injuries.
Buses and traffic have been forced to be diverted while the incident is ongoing.
