A safe, modern and colourful play area has been unveiled following a £60,000 refurbishment.

Basildon Council worked with pupils at Eversley Primary School to pick the final design for Eversley Recreation Ground in Pitsea. Children can now enjoy new equipment including swings, a slide, climbing frame, balance beam and spinning dish.

Councillor Gavin Callaghan, Basildon Council’s Chairman of the Policy and Resources committee, visited the play area today along with local schoolchildren.

He said: "It is important that children in the borough are happy, healthy and active. Getting the basics right with brilliant outdoor spaces and quality community facilities goes some way to helping us to achieve that.

"Thanks to our investment and the help of the Eversley Primary School Council, the recreation ground now has space for youngsters in Pitsea to play safely while having fun and challenging themselves."
