A CHARITY was thrilled to receive a donation from a supermarket.
Southend Association of Voluntary Services was given a cheque for £237 from Southend Waitrose.
The money will go towards its Turning Tides project.
This project promotes active citizenship and offers a range of activities for young people living in disadvantaged areas of central Southend as well as supporting isolated older people living across the borough.
Turning Tides encourages involvement in social activities, volunteering, training and environmental projects.
Some of its projects include Folk Like Us, which provides support and advice to people over the age of 65 in Southend who are experiencing loneliness and isolation. Visit savs-southend.org
