THURROCK Council’s councillor for the environment has issued the final reminder ahead of litter enforcement officers hitting the streets next week.

Pauline Tolson, said: “This is final warning to litter louts, from next week we will have officers out in the borough issuing £75 fines to those too lazy to find a bin!

“Every resident I speak to is fed up with selfish people treating our roads and town centres like a rubbish dump. It needs to stop.

“With more than 500 bins around Thurrock, there really is no excuse for spoiling our borough - if you can't see a bin, stick it in your pocket or your bag and take it home to recycle or dispose of.

“And, if you think dropping your cigarette end on the street is ok then think again - there are no ifs and definitely no butts when it comes to littering our borough!

"Our residents who, like this administration, have had enough of litter louts can take solace in the fact that we have removed the early payment discount for the fixed penalty notice to make clear our zero tolerance approach to littering.”
