ONE of the mysterious billboards that have been appearing around the country has sprung up in Hadleigh.

The billboards bear the message ‘Legal Name Fraud - The Truth’ and claim that ‘it is illegal to use a legal name’.

Who or what is behind the signs is unclear, but website legalnamefraud.com explains in more detail the idea behind the posters.

The bizarre conspiracy theory claims that when a name of a baby is registered by the parents, they are unknowingly giving ownership of this name to the Crown Corporation.

By giving ownership of their name to the Crown, and then saying that they “are that name, they are therefore making themselves property of the crown".

Other billboards have sprung up on the A66 in Teesside, North Ormesby and South Bank, as well as in Manchester.
