POLICE are searching for a man who carried out a robbery in Pitsea.

The robbery took place in Pitsea Road at about 9pm yesterday when a 35-year-old man from Basildon was walking along the road near the junction with Beambridge.

He was approached by a man who asked him for money and, when he replied he didn’t have any, the man hit him a number of times, stole his tracksuit bottoms and trainers, before running off with them.

The victim suffered minor cuts and grazes to his face, knees, back and elbows but did not need hospital treatment.

His attacker is described as white, aged 35 to 40, 5ft 10in to 6ft tall, of medium build, with short dark hair. He was wearing a navy blue top, and blue jeans.
