A FAMILY business has been given the royal seal of approval in honour of its prompt and friendly service.

European Refrigeration Ltd, based at Annwood Lodge business park, in Rayleigh, was awarded the Royal Warrant of Appointment to Her Majesty the Queen

The warrant is effective for a five year period, and grants the firm the right to display the Queen’s coat of arms.

Derek Murton, chairman and director of the company, was given the award after providing services for the royal family.

He said: "I feel so privileged and proud that my company has been granted this Royal Warrant.

"We have clients in Essex, London and the Home Counties. It's family company. I have been in the refrigeration business for 30 years and my son also works in the company."

Mr Murton, from Canvey, added: "We just work by recommendation so this is quite an achievement from our point of view. Our company provides a good service and that's been recognised. This will serve to enhance our reputation and attract a broader network of clients."

Prized Royal Warrants are granted to companies or people who have regularly supplied goods or services to either the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh or the Prince of Wales for no fewer than five consecutive years, and who have an ongoing trading arrangement.

The origins of the Royal Warrant date back to the 15th century.

Today, there are around 800 holders of the appointment, representing a huge cross-section of trade and industry.

Those who hold them are recognised for their commitment to the highest standards of customer care, quality and excellence.

European Refrigeration Ltd, founded in 1985, provides service, maintenance and sales of commercial refrigeration and air conditioning equipment .

The company is dedicated to exceeding customer expectations in all areas, including safety, and has a growing reputation for fast, friendly and honest customer service.
