A POST office will benefit from longer opening hours when it reopens after a major overhaul.

Noak Bridge Post Office, in Coppice Lane, Noak Bridge, will open for an extra 41 hours a week- including on Sunday's.

It will close for a makeover at 5.30pm on Monday, February 29, before the new-look branch is unveiled on Thursday, March 3.

It will have a new open-plan till area, and extra facilities.

The branch will also offer a wider range of mail, cash, and bill paying services.

Post office area manager Kevin Shepherd said: “We are confident this vibrant new-style post office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.

“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.

“The investment marks a commitment to our ‘no more branch closure’ programme.”

Customers are advised to visit nearby post offices in Town Square, Basildon, or Ballards Walk, Laindon, during the closure.

The new opening hours of the Noak Bridge post office will be 7am until 8pm Monday to Saturday, and 8am until 5pm on Sunday.
