A CANVEY teacher moved a step closer to achieving her dream of becoming a pop star this weekend when she successfully auditioned for the BBC show The Voice.

Jade Tibbs, 28, of Hawkesbury Road, Canvey chose to join coach Will I Am after all four judges rotated their chairs to signify they would be interested in working with her.

Last week, the mum-of-one said this would be her final attempt to break into the music industry having previously had a taste of fame with the girl bands Fenix and Vida, who supported N-Dubz, Ed Sheeran and the Pussycat Dolls.

The former Karizma Dance School pupil in Canvey, who gave birth to daughter Jasmine just three weeks before her audition in September, impressed the judges with her version of the DJ Fresh tune Gravity.

Before her TV appearance on Saturday, she said: “Ever since having a taste of what it is like to be part of a pop group and it not quite working out I decided yes: it’s what I really want.

“I’ve wanted to be a performer ever since I was about six years old- I used to make my family watch me perform.

“This is my last chance to finally and properly make it.”
