POLICE are searching Canvey lake after a man went missing after failing to return from a walk.
Dean Coleman, 22, went out for a walk at 10.30am yesterday and has not returned to his home in Kingsdown Walk since.
Officers have been scouring the island all day and residents have organised search parties to look for Mr Coleman.
Police were at Canvey lake just after 5.15pm.
Police say his disappearance is extremely out of character for Dean and police and his family are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.
Mum Julie Coleman believes Mr Coleman could be in Southend or Dagenham, where he grew up and where his dad still lives.
She said: "None of his friends know anything and I am worried sick. I just want him to go home."
He is described as white, 5ft 8ins tall, of slim build, with short light brown hair and facial stubble.
Mr Coleman was wearing a brown and white jumper, blue jeans and light grey Lacoste trainers.
He has strong links to the Dagenham area and is also fond of walking along the seafront.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at Rayleigh on 101.
