A GANG of drunk teenagers dragged a man from his car, tasered him, and then left him slumped unconscious against his car bonnet.

Witnesses described Stephen Burns, 18, Connor Clift, 18, and a 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, as “like out of control wild dogs” as they launched vicious assaults on two motorists in December 2013.

The trio narrowly avoided jail and were handed suspended prison sentences when they appeared at Basildon Crown Court on Wednesday.

Sentencing them, Judge Samantha Leigh, said: “You acted worse that savages that night.

“Like drugged-up, spaced out, violent idiots.

“I want to make it clear I am giving you a second chance but if you fail to comply with any conditions I impose you will be back in front of me and I promise I will activate these sentences in full.”

The court heard that the teenagers had been at a pal’s 18th birthday party where they had drunk around £200 of cheap vodka and had been zapping each other with a taser in pranks similar to those in the TV show, Jackass.

The lads then allegedly received a call saying some girls were being bullied.

The party spilled out in to London Road, Rayleigh and the boys drunkenly began flagging down cars to find the alleged bullies.

One of the group then ran out infront a taxi while another teen started banging on the back of the vehicle.

The taxi driver then got out to remonstrate with the group and was punched in the face by Clift.

Jack Walsh, prosecuting, said: “Mr Clift was described as being out of control. He was shouting, ‘come over here if you want some’.

“As they drove off the taxi was kicked, punched and bottled.”

A few minutes later the second victim, Darren Ewers, was driving along London Road when he was flagged down by six or seven members of the gang.

As Mr Ewers tried to get out of the car he was tasered by Burns.

He was then pulled from the car, punched in the head a number of time and then tasered for a second time.

He collapsed unconscious next to his car and when he came round the gang had gone.

Mr Ewers needed stitches to his head and suffered short term memory loss and speech problems.

He could not work for five months and struggled to pay his mortgage.

Burns of Bardfield Way, Rayleigh, was handed 24 months in prison suspended for 24 months, supervision and ordered to pay his victim £1,000 compensation.

Clift, of The Chase, Rayleighwas handed a 16 month sentence suspended for 24 months and ordered to pay £500 compensation.

The 17-year-old was handed an 18 month youth rehabilitation order, supervision and ordered to pay £1,000 compensation.
