ONE third of Southend Council will be up for re-election in May.
Voters go to the polls on May 7, the same day as the general election, to decide the make-up of the authority. All 17 wards will have a councillor up for re-election. However, in two wards, people people will vote for two candidates.
In Shoebury West, Tory councillor Liz Day is resigning due to ill health, while in St. Laurence, fellow Conservative Adam Jones is standing down.
Votes by proxy would need to be submitted to the council by 5pm on May 7.
The count and results will take place a day after, on the Friday.
