A BRAWL broke out outside a popular bar during its opening night following a revamp.

Up to ten people were seen fighting near Bar Blanco in Eastwood Road, Rayleigh, after they were refused entry for being too drunk.

The club had been closed since January 30 for refurbishment and relaunched with big-name DJs to bring in the crowds.

The bar hosted Kiss 100 radio DJs the Dixon Brothers on Friday and hundreds of people turned up for the opening event.

But just after 11.20pm police were called to a fight outside.

Insp Jeff Appleby, of Rochford neighbourhood policing team, said: “We received two calls, including one from a taxi driver who travelled past, saying there was a fight outside Bar Blanco involving about ten people.

“They said there were a lot of people outside, lots of shouting and the fighting kept stopping and starting.”

Police arrived within four minutes but by that point those responsible had dispersed.

Police stayed on scene to ensure there was no further trouble.

Mr Appleby added: “It is something our licensing team will look at in terms of CCTV to make sure there are no issues with the licence.”

Dan Sheridan, manager of the bar, said he was inside but heard a group of men had been refused entry by door staff.

He said: “We run a strict door policy and our security felt they had had too much to drink.

“They told them to come back next week.

“They walked away from the door fine but they started an argument down the road.

“Nothing happened inside the club.

“We are strict about having people in the bar who are intoxicated.”

Four men ended up in hospital following a brawl at the bar when it was under different ownership.

One man suffered a broken nose and a female member of staff lost two teeth in the violence which erupted between a group of men from Canvey and a stag party from London in June 30, 2013.

This was when the bar was owned by Towie star Ricky Rayment and his uncle Danny Salmon.

More than 18 months on, a trial of four men allegedly involved in the incident has still not been heard after bungling prosecutors still hadn’t interviewed key witnesses when it was due for trial in October last year.
