A TEENAGE boy has been charged with multiple robberies.

The 16-year-old, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, has been charged with three counts of street robbery, stealing iPhones and cash to a total of more than £650.

Two robberies took place in Southend High Street, on December 30 last year, while the third was in East Street, Southend, on January 2.

The teenager is also charged with stealing a bank card in Furtherwick Road, Canvey, on December 10 last year and is alleged to have committed fraud by false representation by trying to buy a can of drink from Spar in Canvey with a stolen card on the same day.

Basildon magistrates remanded him in a youth detention centre until he appears at Basildon Crown Court at a time and date to be fixed for a plea and case management hearing.
