AVELEY village is kicking off its seasonal celebrations with the Christmas lights switch-on.

It is marking the festivities in style with the official switching-on of the illuminations on Monday.

Pupils from Aveley Primary School and members of the Aveley Youth Centre will be in attendance.

You will be able to sing along to Christmas carols, followed by a treat of hot chocolate and mince pies.

The meeting point for the event is the Christmas tree in Aveley High Street, at 4pm.

Residents can also look forward to the Christmas market, with more than 50 stalls bringing together many ideas for presents.

There will be entertainment, courtesy of Aveley’s Music4Change and other guest performers, such as the Aveley and Newham Brass Band.

Santa will be visiting and setting up his grotto full of free gifts for the first 250 children.

Aveley’s Christmas market will be held on Sunday, December 14, from 11am to 3pm in the High Street.
