VOLUNTEERS are being sought to support two of Thurrock Council’s library services.

The service is on the lookout for more volunteers to help with its popular Home-link service which delivers library items to those who are unable to get to their library.

There are currently two regular vacancies at Blackshots Library and one at Corringham Library as well as a need for relief volunteers to provide cover when staff are ill or on holiday.

There are Home-link rounds at most libraries and these go out once a month.

Home-link volunteers go out in pairs and are an essential link between the library staff and customers who are housebound or who have mobility issues. A driving licence and access to a car is essential.

Another popular service is the Wiser4IT courses which have so far supported and trained over 5,000 local people to search the internet, send and reply to emails, use Facebook and Twitter and create a great CV for job hunting.

Those confident in using computers and able to communicate clearly to help people how to go online and use a computer then you are needed.

Application forms and role descriptions for both opportunities can be found at www.thurrock.gov.uk/volunteering.
