HORDES of the undead will stagger from the Southend Pier to the town centre.

The annual zombie walk is taking place on Sunday, October 26, with dozens of people in fancy dress limping from the pier to the Park Inn Palace Hotel, in Pier Hill, to watch a film.

Free entry on the walk is given to people in fancy dress, with prizes on offer for the best costumes.

The undead will gather at 2pm at the pier, then start their long walk back to shore at 3pm, where Dr Terror’s House of Horrors – a film suitable for all ages – will be shown at the hotel.

Lib Dem Graham Longley, deputy leader of Southend Council, said: “It is a great fun event with a free family- friendly film at the end of it. We hope as many as possible join the 2014 Zombie walk to make it even bigger and more funnily frightening than in previous years.”
