A CAR in Chafford Hundred had its window smashed before being set on fire.
The black Ford Focus was parked on the driveway of a home in Hawkins Drive when it was deliberately set alight at around 1.25am on Thursday, July 17.
Police are reaching out to anyone who might have been at the school proms taking place in the area that evening - as they may have information that will help with the investigation into the arson.
It is thought a window was smashed and the interior of the car was then set on fire. The car suffered major fire damage.
Investigating Officer Pc Charlotte Davis said: "There may have been lots of people out that night because there were school proms on that evening.
"If anyone saw something or someone acting suspiciously in that area please can they contact me at Grays Police Station on 101."
