Retailer offering 40 new jobs to open Saturday

SCORES of jobs will be created when a new retail giant opens its doors this weekend.

Home Bargains will welcome its first customers at its new branch at Turner Rise Retail Park, Colchester, from 8.30am on Saturday.

It has invested £500,000 in the store and will create up to 40 new employment opportunities.

The brand, which sells home products, snacks and has a license to sell alcohol, has moved into the 18,000 sq ft unit previously occupied by Bennetts Electrical store.

"Home Bargains?"...so another cheap shop selling tacky goods which will close down within months - why can't we have some high-quality retailers for a change? Aren't there enough cheap shops in town?

They actually sell quality items at reduced prices. If it creates another 40 jobs for Colchester what does it matter anyway?

They are a national company and they are not tacky at all - they are like a Wilkinsons. I'll be going to snaffle up a few bargains!!
