Halstead: Police appeal for information following attempted burglary
POLICE are appealing for information to help track down a burglar who tried to break into a house in Wakes Colne.
A man attempted to force open a window in Lane Road at about 1pm on Thursday when he was disturbed by the owner of the house and fled.
Investigating officer DC Daniel Jeffries said: "The man walked down the side of the house and was trying to jemmy open a window with a screwdriver when he was challenged by the owner of the property who was at home at the time.
"The suspect was white, aged between 35 and 45, about 6ft tall and of skinny build. He also had long brown scruffy hair.
"He fled to a light cream or white car, possibly a BMW or Mercedes, and drove off."
Detectives are keen to hear from anyone who can identify the man or the vehicle used.
Anybody with information is urged to contact DC Jeffries at Colchester CID on 101.
