Police and fire crews worked together after a gritter caught fire.
Firefighters were called to Main Road, Chelmsford last night (March 26), after reports of a large vehicle fire.
Crews arrived to find a gritter lorry alight and worked for over an hour to extinguish the flame.
It is believed the fire was an accident.
A spokesperson from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters were called to reports of a large vehicle fire in Main Road, Chelmsford at 6.58pm on Thursday (26 March).
"On arrival, crews advised that a gritting lorry was around 30% alight.
"The fire was extinguished by 7.42pm.
"We believe this fire was caused accidentally."
Police also attended the scene and tweeted: "PC Mullen and PC Norfolk from Chelmsford Local Policing Team are working as usual helping our colleagues in Danbury where a gritter has caught fire while you all stay home."
