HUNDREDS of ramblers laced up their walking boots to part in a stroll around a nature reserve to help hedgehogs.

Harwich's slowest charity walk was held for the tenth at Bobbit's Hole nature reserve in Dovercourt on Sunday.

For the event, hosted by the Harwich Society, more than 300 visitors soaked up the sun as they strolled around the Bobbit’s Hole.

There was a tea and cake stall doing a roaring trade, younger visitors queuing to have their faces painted and the opportunity to cuddle a duck.

Harwich Society chairman, Colin Farnell said the event was a wonderful day of family entertainment from beginning to end.

He added: "There is a tremendous amount of work goes into staging the Bobbit’s Stroll and, along with our own volunteers, we are very grateful to everyone who assisted.

"The 4th Dovercourt Seascouts helped on the day and the Explorer Scouts played a big part in preparing Bobbit’s Hole for the occasion.

"It was another fine example of Harwich’s wonderful community spirit and."

A total of £540 was raised for the Hedgehog Haven Rescue – North Essex.
