A TEENAGER and his grandma skydived together to raise money for research into heart disease.

Luke Williams, 17, and his grandma Christine Dalby, 68, threw themselves out of a plane in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

Luke, of Sweden Close, Dovercour, had asked for a skydiving experience for Christmas.

But soon after receiving the thrillseekers gift he decided to raise money from the event in memory of his grandad Peter Dalby, who died three years ago.

Luke’s mum Karen, said: “After losing my dad, my mum had a sort of bucket list of things to do and this was on it.

“She said if Luke’s doing it then she would do it with him.”

Luke, a lifeguard at Dovercourt swimming pool and a college at Suffolk One, and Christine skydived on July 15 - almost three years to the day since Peter died of a heart attack.

Karen added: “His death was a shock, the day it happened he was meant to be going to a friend’s funeral.

“He came home in pain and went to hospital - they tried to do open heart surgery but it didn’t work.

“He was a member of the local rugby club for 50 years and had only just retired from work - he wasn’t someone who was ill.”

Luke and Christine have raised £1,350 for the British Heart Foundation.
