A NOSTALGIC afternoon tea was enjoyed by patients in celebration of the NHS.

Asda in Harwich kindly brought along cakes to patients in the Trinity Ward at Harwich Hospital.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the NHS, and to thank hospital staff the community champions at the supermarket hosted a special tea.

Deadre Scott, the community champion for Harwich Asda, said: "Asda gives us community champions a tea to take out into the community, and we held a little party.

"We took tea and coffee, cakes and strawberry scones which went down a treat.

"We also did a nostalgic quiz about the NHS which went down really well.

"I reckon there was about 50 people coming in and out - we had patients, visitors and staff, there was a lot of people.

"They all really enjoyed themselves and it was a lovely day."

She said from the supermarket's point of view it was a way of saying thank you for all the hard work the NHS has done over the past 70 years.
