Excited pooches and their adoring owners raised more than £4,000 at the return of a popular air ambulance fundraiser.

On Sunday, Essex and Herts Air Ambulance's Heli Hounds walk took place at Great Notley Country Park's Discovery Centre.

It was a case of third time lucky for the fundraising walk, after it had to be postponed twice in March because of severe weather conditions.

The Beast from the East brought snow and sub-zero temperatures to Essex, meaning the event was cancelled in the interests of safety.

At the event, dogs and their owners tackled a one mile route across the park, walking as many loops as they wish.

Each paid a fee to take part, with all the cash going towards continuing the air ambulance's life-saving work in Essex and further afield.

Events Manager Fay Boissieux said: “We would like to thank everyone who signed up to take part today and walk man’s best friend in support of their local life-saving charity.

"So far well over £4,000 has been raised, so well done everyone.

“Dog owners who would like to support us are welcome to sign up for our Autumn Heli Hounds event on October 14th where we will be welcoming TV dog whisperer Dima Yeremenko, who has worked with the likes of Paul O’Grady and Noel Fitzpatrick.”

Details of the autumn walk will follow soon at www.ehaat.com.
