Dozens of protesters took to the streets to show their opposition to the Rivenhall incinerator.

Parishes Against Incinerator (Pain) led a protest march on Saturday from Coggeshall to the planned site in Rivenhall.

Around 80 people joined the march despite the snow and wind, and heard speeches from councillor James Abbott and head of Pain Nick Unsworth.

Tom Walsh, a member of Pain, said: “Many, many thanks to everyone who joined us.

“To our Facebook friends, our bus drivers, our sign makers and to our three photographers and film-makers, and to everyone who helped us make this march a successful and positive community event despite the elements.”

Essex County Council is expected to make a decision on the latest incinerator application on Friday, April 27, with campaigners set to march on County Hall on what is D-Day for their campaign.
