A COLOURFUL new interactive cycling studio has been launched at a Maldon leisure centre.

Development company Places for People have completed the installation of a new group cycling studio at the Blackwater Leisure Centre on Park Drive, Maldon.

The huge investment has created a permanent area for hugely popular group cycling classes.

The completely revamped room, which opened in the first week of August, will be the perfect home for instructor led sessions and features a huge 75 inch interactive screen which will be used to lead brand-new virtual classes.

Mark Taylor, Contract Manager at Places for People Leisure, said: “This fantastic new development gives our members another unique experience as part of their membership package.

“This addition to the centre will be the perfect place for everyone who wants to push themselves to the next level in their cycling workouts.

“The studio will be great for those who want to try sessions at their own pace, as well as for those frequent cyclists who want to supplement their workouts with our brand-new virtual classes.”

Henry Bass, Chairman of Maldon District Council, who opened the new facility, said: “The council is pleased to work in partnership with Places for People Leisure to provide this first class leisure and fitness facility for the people of Maldon.

“The Blackwater Leisure Centre is very popular with local residents and supports the council’s objective to support an active population and encourage people to live healthy lifestyles.

“Cycling, including cycle classes, is a great way to keep active, it is low impact and good fun. I’m sure this new studio will be well used and prove very popular.”
