A THEATRE school has won the chance to perform at Disneyland Paris.

Rascals Theatre School has been successful in auditioning to perform dances on the Disneyland Paris Videopolis stage.

The school has 26 pupils going to France with Mardi Gras, a performance company that arranges trips abroad.

Rascals dance troupe has twenty six students aged between six and sixteen, and live in the Great Notley area.

The troupe meets at Great Notley Community Centre and church weekly.

They will present their own showcase of dances to five songs, including Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall’, “Baggy trousers” by Madness, and ‘Hey Mickey’ by B*Witched.

The group will go on a two night stay from Sunday, July 23 to Tuesday, July 25.

To apply for the show at Disneyland Paris, the group had to submit two full performances to Disney, who assess and judge the entries.

The Disney Performing Arts programme had to approve the troupe, and have strict and specific requirements when it comes to the routines and the students.

During the trip, they will be able to go on all the rides, enjoy a continental breakfast and get a two-hour exclusive pass for early entry.

More than 20 girls and boys from the troupe will visit Disneyland Paris to dance for the first time.

Owner Diane Neave said the troupe had been rehearsing for nine months.

She said: “We’ve been rehearsing and the group has put in so much hard work.

“We know they will be brilliant as they are very well rehearsed, and we are sure they will all love the experience.”
