THE CITIZEN’S Advice Bureau has been given a donation of £500 from a Witham club.

The Witham and District Lioness Club president Joanne Williams presented a cheque to Cab treasurer Richard Jones on Monday.

The Cab in Witham provides advice for residents on their rights and responsibilities.

It helps countless people every year and needs support.

Witham-based Lioness Club is a women’s charity that helps others.

It runs events for charity and all of the money goes out into the community and helps others in need.

The Lioness club holds fundraising events such as home-made cake decorating events, street stalls and tombolas, and tea parties.

A spokesman from Cab said: “At this time of reduced core funding, we are very grateful to our local supporters for the donations they make towards our vital service.”

The Lioness Club celebrated their 40th anniversary in May.

The Cab is located in Witham in Collingwood Road, opposite the Collingwood Road Surgery,

It operates for all residents of Braintree, Halstead and Witham, and is the only centre within Witham itself.

The centre does rely on Government funding but recently it has found funding for some services cut meaning support from others has become crucial.
