A CARE home for people with learning disabilities has been praised by inspectors for its “open culture” and “personalised” care.

Conifers, in Church Street, Bocking, was inspected by the Care Quality Commission during an unannounced visit on May 9.

Inspectors gave the home an overall rating of good in the report, published on June 16.

The home was praised for maintaining resident’s health and wellbeing and in particular for maintaining healthy and balanced diets.

The report states: “Staff had formed positive relationships with people who used the service.

“People's privacy and dignity was respected at all times and people were treated with kindness and respect.”

The registered manager was also held in “high regard” and there was a long standing stable workforce at the home.

The report states: “The care and support people received was personalised and met their individual needs and preferences.

“People, or their representatives, were involved in making decisions about how the support was delivered so they felt listened to and included.”

The report did however state that the home was not always effective and said it required improvement in this area.

Conifers can house up to six residents with learning disabilities.
