RESIDENTS will have the chance to quiz the police about crime and community safety at a public meeting.

Police and crime commissioner Roger Hirst will be joined by Tendring district commander Russ Cole for a meeting in Harwich, on Thursday, June 29.

The meeting, which will be chaired by MP Bernard Jenkins follows a previous session in 2016 where concerns were raised about local crime, including burglary.

The meeting is primarily an opportunity to discuss local policing and ask questions of the commissioner and police representatives.

It will include a discussion on recent successful police operations and areas of focus for police in the district.

The meeting will take place between 6.30pm and 8pm at the Pavilion, Barrack Lane, Harwich.

Information relating to police activities and operations in the local community will be handed out at the event.
