A DANBURY based company is expanding operations after receiving a funding grant of more than £200,000.

Family-owned business C&J Coach Tours, has invested in a new top-of-the-range vehicle after securing £220,000 of funding from Lombard and NatWest.

The £270,000 Mercedes-Benz touring coach seats 53 passengers while also offering more comfortable seating, additional leg room, and a mini-kitchen.

C&J Coach Tours has been run by husband-and-wife team David and Tina Houghton since 2003, when they took over from the previous owner. Having previously hired vehicles for their tours, in 2009 they purchased their first coach after growing the business.

The company operates more than 60 day excursions a year, as well up to 12 tours across the UK and continental Europe, going as far as Austria and Italy’s Dolomites.

David Houghton, Director of C&J Coach Tours, said: “Our new coach will keep us ahead in an increasingly competitive touring market – the Tourismo is a top class vehicle, giving our customers an even more comfortable stay on our tours.

“We’re always looking at ways of enhancing our service – Lombard and NatWest have been very helpful to our business.”
