CRESSING Temple Barns will be transported back in time at an internationally renowned history festival .

The International Living History Festival spans across thousands of years right up to the 20th century.

Dozens of exhibitors from groups all over the Europe are attending the show on April 8 and 9 in what is the one of the biggest events in the re-enactment calendar.

One of the highlights is a market, where artisan craftsmen and traders are on hand to advise and provide replicas of historical heritage items, whether it be medieval clothing or Roman cooking utensils.

There will be displays across the weekend including have-a-go hands-on history activities.

For real students of history there are also a series of lectures and seminars taking place across the weekend.

Topics include the life and times of Edward III and the Stowe Maries Aerodrome.

The festival has become the primary multi-period marketplace for re-enactors, historical interpreters and historical enthusiasts across Europe and so to have the event taking place in the district is quite a coup.

Cressing Temple is the perfect venue, with its links to the Knights Templar, 13th Century barn buildings and beautiful grounds and gardens.

This year’s event is expected to be bigger and better than ever before, with 50 traders, nine re-enactment groups and a series of audience participation events.

The show is organised by Pike And Shot Events Ltd.

Advanced tickets are now available for purchase, costing £8 per adult. Children under 16 go free of charge.

Group tickets and discount tickets are also available. Lectures and seminar tickets must be pre-booked and are priced at £5.

Doors open at 9.30am on Saturday and close at 5pm, on Sunday doors open at 10am and close at 4pm.
