A PRIMARY school teacher has missed out on making the next round of top talent show The Voice.

Hadleigh Ford, 38, of Silver End, made it through to the battle round of the ITV singing competition after his rendition of David Gray’s This Year’s Love prompted judge Gavin Rossdale to turn his chair.

For his next performance, which aired on Saturday, Hadleigh was partnered up with Truly Ford.

The duo battled to it out singing Fleetwood Mac’s Go Your Own Way to win a place in the next round.

But judge Rossdale, who is lead singer and guitarist in Bush, picked Truly to continue on his team.

Fellow coaches Will.i.am, Jennifer Hudson and Tom Jones were all given the opportunity to “steal” Hadleigh but none decided to push their button.

In a post online Hadleigh, who lives with wife Sophie and 15-month-old daughter Elodie, said: “Thanks so much to everyone for the well wishes and support.

“My The Voice UK journey has ended but I wish the remaining contestants and #teamgavin all the best.

“I'm really excited that I'll be sharing some new music with you all soon. Keep your eyes peeled for new videos and a new release very soon.”

Hadleigh and his fellow contestants got the opportunity to perform at the legendary Abbey Road Studios as they prepared for their battle performance.

He added: “What an honour it was to be able to sing there.”
