A POLICE helicopter was scrambled in the search for two suspects who tried to break into a luxury sports car garage.

Essex Police were alerted to the attempted break in at the Porsche service centre off Wyncolls Road in Colchester, around 9.35pm on Thursday.

The two male suspects had been seen acting suspiciously.

One of the men was then spotted trying to get into a door to the site, which among its services, offers MOTs on the top sports cars. Police raced to the site but the men had fled before they arrived.

The police helicopter was scrambled.

It searched over the nearby Severalls Lane, Ipswich Road and Highwoods Country Park area.

Nothing was taken in the incident.

It is understood no damage was caused to the garage.

A Porsche spokesman confirmed an attempted break-in had occurred.

He added: “They weren’t successful and the police responded within record time.”

The company declined to provide further comment on what happened including whether the suspects triggered the alarm system.

An Essex Police spokesman added: “Police were called with reports of two men acting suspiciously at a car garage in Wyncolls Road, Colchester.

“One man was seen to attempt to gain access to a door.

“Officers attended but the suspects had already left the scene.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Colchester police station on 101.”

Police did not confirm whether the men fled on foot or in a vehicle.
