FIVE people have been arrested on suspicion of robbery after one was found in bushes by a police dog.

A 16-year-old boy, who is from the Chelmsford area, was arrested on suspicion of robbery, assault and theft after police dog Roscoe led his handler to bushes in an alleyway off of Albert Road, Witham, just after 1.30am yesterday morning.

Police had been called to reports of the robbery of a man in Bluebell Close, Witham, two hours earlier.

Four other suspects were arrested by local officers in Albert Road, Witham.

An 18-year-old man from Southend was arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.

Two 16-year-old boys from London and a 17-year-old boy from Witham were arrested on suspicion of assault and robbery and a knife was seized.

All of those arrested have been released on bail until December 7.
