A BREAKOUT of blue-green algae has been found in Heybridge Lakes.

Water from the lakes was tested by the Environment Agency who confirmed the presence of the algae.

Dog owners are being advised to keep their pets on leads around the lakes to avoid them coming into contact with the water.

Similarly anyone who does come into contact with the water is being advised to wash their hands immediately.

Thomas Bates and Sons Ltd. who own the lakes are in the process of putting up signs to warn people of the situation.
