A CARE home has been praised by a health watchdog after making a turnaround since its last inspection.

The New Deanery care home in Bocking, bought by Sonnet Care Homes in November 2013, has been rated as outstanding for leadership and good in all other areas covering care, safety, effectiveness and responsiveness by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The report praised management and described the home as having “a homely atmosphere.”

It said: “It was apparent from our observation of interactions between the management and people who used the service that there was a homely atmosphere, genuine warmth expressed, lots of laughter and openness to people’s request for support.

“None of the people we spoke to had any complaints about the service and care they were provided with.”

The care home provides accommodation and personal care for up to 93 people.

It had previously been inspected in November 2014 and was rated as requires improvement.

The home, which has seen a significant improvement, is paired with St Mary’s Court .

Julia Clinton, CEO of Sonnet Care Homes, is “delighted” with the report.

She said: “The team at The New Deanery works tirelessly to provide impeccable 24-hour care for our residents and while we were confident that significant improvements had been made since the last report in 2014 we are absolutely delighted that CQC has confirmed this with such a positive report.

“Our home manager, Jane Sadowski, deservedly received glowing reports for the work she has done in transforming the quality of care.”
