BEE enthusiasts were buzzing with excitement as they spent a day learning all about hives and honey.
The group of 14 looked at the importance of the honey bee and the assembly of a beehive as well as getting some hands-on experience with honey tasting and candle rolling.
Tutor Jan French of the Braintree Division of Essex Beekeepers delivered the one-day course on an introduction to beekeeping at Cressing Temple Barns.
She said: “The group spent a day exploring the world of beekeeping. In the morning session they learnt all about the honey bee and how to build a hive.
“This was followed by a practical session inspecting Cressing Temple’s beehives.
“After lunch they had the opportunity to taste various different honeys and to roll a beeswax candle.
“Delegates left with a goody bag of interesting beekeeping knick-knacks and an invitation to attend Braintree Beekeeping Association’s next apiary meeting.
“The day flew by and everyone had a great time.”
